Plinti accatastati, parallelepipedi ondulati, navi, origami, fari, salvagenti, mari, scorci di terre e borghi sono gli elementi iconografici che danno vita alle Strutture in Emergenza di Massimiliano Scuderi. Con le loro geometrie asimmetriche e astratte, in un gioco di forme e colori fiabeschi, questi dipinti esprimono la cifra stilistica dell’artista, la sua arte immaginaria, modulare e metamorfica del tutto riconoscibile. Le tele in mostra, dai forti contenuti ideologici, sono dei frame surreali di cronaca contemporanea, come si evince agevolmente dalle rappresentazioni delle due navi ONG Lifeline e Aquarius. Tuttavia, esse sono al contempo delle traiettorie di riflessione fantastica prive di ragguagli spazio-temporali, tanto arcaiche quanto futuribili, che attraversano la storia e tutte le storie di esodi, che la memoria umana non può e non deve dimenticare, per riflettere sul passato, sul presente e sull’avvenire in una prospettiva che faccia incrociare e dialogare i tempi, i luoghi e le loro proiezioni. Concetto chiave dell’esposizione è la parola “emergenza”. E questo per due ragioni. Da una parte, le configurazioni protagoniste dei quadri sono in emergenza perché si presentano come vere e proprie apparizioni che si stagliano in primo piano. Dall’altra, esse sono strutture di emergenza, ancore di salvezza (imbarcazioni, salvagenti, città portuali, fanali), possibilità minime e indispensabili per sfuggire alla morte certa causata dai naufragi o dai blocchi in mare indetti dalla meschina chiusura dei confini. Tema antropologico per antonomasia, la migrazione assume qui i tratti di una “iconologia della speranza”, dove la figura umana sognante è completamente mancante, ma la cui presenza proprio nell’assenza risulta più forte di una sua reale visibilità. L’aspettativa umana del salvataggio si carica così di un aspetto soprannaturale, un raggio divino dorato che attraversa molti di questi dipinti: una guida verso un porto sicuro, un filo aureo di solidarietà e di assistenza, il bagliore illimitato della fede tout court. In una crasi iconica tra l’umano, il disumano e il sovrumano Scuderi impartisce all’osservatore una lezione efficace mediante la sola messa in forma di strutture di resistenza creativa contro meccanismi di potere, fanatismo e intolleranza. Una sensibilizzazione grafica che porta i segni di un linguaggio in apparenza semplice, fanciullesco, e perfino ingenuo, contro una bassa demagogia che innalza il vento dell’odio e dell’intolleranza nei confronti di un altro-ve ormai davvero fuori tempo e fuori luogo.
